Running Accomplishments:

I just started xc this year.  I am in junior high but run on the high school team.  I'm the only one in my family that runs, and i love it! my best 5k this year was 21:13.  I ran that at the region meet and took 11th place.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My next short-term running goal... hm... well next year on track and cross country, the girls my age will be running on the high school team, right now i'm the only freshman on my team, my next goal is to beat kelsie bird.  She is really fast but she is not getting the kind of training that i am because she is just running for the junior high this year.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would really like to run a marathon someday.  I might even want to do a half with my aunt.

I have realy been a bad slacker... i didn't end up running indoor track with the high school team.  I decided that i would just do track with them.  Today was the first practice.  I ran 2 miles with them.  I could feel how out of shape i was.  I need to run again.

Today we ran 5 miles for practice.  I did ok.  It was snowing and cold so we ran really slow.

Today  i didn't run with the team because i was busy when they were running so i ran on my own.  It felt really good.  I was way sore though.

Today i need to make my decision if i am going to run high school track or jr. high.  I'm a freshman so this is the last year i will get to choose.  I ran high school cross country and loved it!! but i also ran track with jr. high last year and had a blast, and also improved ALOT!! so i don't know what i'm going to do... I could either do jr. and win 1st everytime, or run high school, and be last, but if i do high school i'll prob get better training... hm... idk what to do...

It's all up to you; I found that my brother (a sophomore in H.S. now) ended up deciding NOT to compete rather than be forced to move up to varsity basketball when all his friends played JV. fortunately for us we go to a small school that only has one xc and one track team so we all ran together. Trust your heart and you'll make the right decision. Also, you know it's always fun to smoke the pants off of someone!

alright! thanks so much! i did decide to do jr. high because i think it would be fun to win! in high school i got like 40th place which wasn't like bad but its funner to be in the top 3 or something. ya know? thanks for your comment, it helps!

Today i ran 2 miles with my friend Stephanie from jr high.  She was really slow, and got tired alot.  So, i ran 1 mile slow with her, and sped up my second mile.  Tomorrow i will run more.

Today i ran 2 fast miles.  The weather was perfect.  I wore shorts and a t shirt for the first time today! it felt great!! After i ran i went and worked out lifting.

Yesterday was a team meeting for track and field.  We haven't started practice yet, but they needed to let us know what was going on.  In the meeting they told us they added the 2 mile race, i was so happy.  So, today i got out and timed my 2 mile.  My time was 12:26.30.  It was a windy day so i think i could have done better if it wasn't but i was pretty happy about it anyway.  Since i only ran 2 miles today i think i'll go run some more later tonight.

Today I timed my 2 mile again.  I beat my time from yesterday by 6 seconds.  My time was 12:20.0 .  It was really cold today so i should have ran with sweat pants instead of shorts.  I came back with red legs and red arms.  It hurt pretty bad. haha

Today was the first day of Practi ce for track!! It was really fun, i found out that I am a team captain and i'm really excited about it.  We ran a slow 2 miles today.  Tomorrow will be more hard.

Today, the coaches split up and said we could come when it was best for us.  I didn't have anything going on today so i did a double workout.  Coach Crandall made us do ladders.  They were spread about 100 m. appart with 4 distances.  I'm guessing we did about a mile in speed work 2 times, totaling 2 miles.  Then for the next workout, with Coach Comsa, we ran a 1/2 mile warm up, then 5 400 meter sprints.  Then another 1/2 mile cool down.  It was a pretty hard day today but fun.  Tomorrow is supposed to be a long distance run on the track.  GO MJHS!!

Today coach Comsa told us to run a 3 mile run on the track.  This is really long for only staying on the track.  It was a preety long and boring run.  With warm up and cool downs i ran 4.5 miles today.

*SPRINT WORKOUT* Today i worked out with coach Comsa.  We did what he calls "suicide ladders."  we did a 100 m. then 200 m. then, 300 m. then, 400 m.  rested for 5 minutes and then went 400, 300, 200, 100.  It was a pretty easy day.   I also have a problem with my legs, and yesterday it hurt me really really bad.  One of my legs is about an inch longer than the other leg.  This causes pain when walking/running.  I've never felt the pain until today.  coach Comsa said to get into the doctor ASAP.  Tomorrow i won't run.  I hope i can still be in for the season.

Today my dad called a specialist doctor and made me an appointment.  Its not until next thursday, but the doctor said to take a break today and let my leg get better.  I will run again Sunday if my leg is not hurting.  Coach whyatt agreed, i went to the practice today and encouraged my team.  Whyatt also made me time for him.  Today was the sprints time trials.  My team is pretty good.  I can't wait for our first meet, its next friday, hopefully i can get my leg better by then.  SHOOT this sucks!!

I'm really scared for our first meet, i'm starting to panic that i won't be ready (in shape) for it.  Its next friday.  A week from yesterday.  Next week i'm gunna just have to put in my all to get 1st.  The meet is against lakeridge.  They are a 5a school and we're a 4a school so we're not supposed to even go against them, but whyatt used to coach there so he wants to see if they still are the best!! haha! hopefully we dominate them!! :)

Today I ran a mile warm up to the track.  Then i decided that i needed to time my 800 to see if i could run that event a week from friday in our first meet.  I ran the 800 2 times.  My first time was 3:10.8  and the second time i timed it i got 2:55.35  I also timed the 400 even though i hate sprints i got it in 69 seconds. I was so happy that i got my time for the 800 under 3 minutes.  At least i improved from last year!

Today was the time trials for the mile.  it was a great sunny day, my time was 6:39.  I got second.  Kelsie bird was the only one that beat me. Her time was 6:30

today we did a distance run.  It was pouring for most of our run.  My socks weren't high enough and my shoes rubbed against my foot i now have sores.  Hope it gets better by first meet.

Today was time trials for the 800 m.  It was a very huge storm, huge blizzard.  My race was good.  I took 3rd out of all the 9th graders.  And first for girls.  I think i get to be on the medley relay team.

Doctor said to give the weekends a break until my hip is better.  Tuesday in the morning is my therapy appointment.  we'll see how that goes...

Today we ran sprints for a while, we probably ran over a mile in sprints, then we did a mile and a quarter cool down.  It was a great day.  Tomorrow will be a distance day, and friday is our first meet.  I found out today i'm on the girls medley relay race, i'm pretty excited about that.

Today we ran the canyon 6 mile run! I was really happy with myself because i did it without stopping once!! I ran with Kelsie Bird.  She pushed me and i think i pushed her too.

Today was the 2mile time trial.  I did ok i think... i'm not sure what a good time for me to get would be but my time was 14:15.  Kelsie bird beat me by 2 seconds.  I asked coach comsa what i could work on, and he said that he thinks i could have beat her if i would have pumped my arms more.  I need to work on that, and i need to work on taking longer strides.  Tomorrow i will find out the events that coach Whyatt wants me to run for the meet against Lakeridge on Friday.  I might be on the medley relay team doing the last leg, the 800 meters.  I will find out tomorrow, i can't even wait!!

Meet at Lakeridge Tomorrow!!

Today we did an easy 2 mile run.  Whyatt said that since i'm the fastest at the 800 m. i'm running the regular instead of the medley because Lakeridge usually doesn't do the medley so they aren't very good at it, so no matter what, we will win that, but he said he wouldn't be confident at the 800 if i didn't run it, so i guess i'm doing the regular one.  I'm also running the mile, which i TOTALLY hate!! but that's ok!!

1 mile race: time= 6:32 3rd place.  I felt ok in this one mile race it was my first race. 

800 m: time= 2:55 7th place.  I don't feel like i did my best on this race.  It was right after the one mile and i think i needed more time to rest.  I think if we would have done this race before the mile i would've done better.

2 mile race: time= 14:03 2nd place.  I felt really good in this race.  My whyatt said he needed me to run this race, even though i wasn't signed up for it.  He said that if i felt like i had enough energy then i needed to do it.  I felt ok so i ran.  I was first for the first mile and a half.  The lakeridge girl close behind.  She passed me on the last half mile.  I stayed with her for the most part but kept falling more behind.  She beat me by 7 seconds.  I had a strong ending and felt good.

Today we did a sprint workout, we probabley did a mile in sprinting.  Then we did a 2 mile jog after.  When we were doing the cool down my hip hurt really bad, its not like me to stop and walk in the middle of a run, but i did cause it hurt so bad.  I think tomorrow i'll get new shoes to see if that solves the problem.

Today we had the track, so we did a sprint workout.  we did a warm up lap, 4 400's m., one fast 800, and a cool down lap.  It was windy so it hurt to run against the wind.

Right now i am so so so so so sad!! i just found out that since my hip injury isn't getting better, i have to quit track for the season.  i am so sad! everyone says its the best for the long run but whatever what about Now? i am going to get so behind for cross country season and everyone is just going to get their training and pass me. ugh!! this is bad timing!
